For this Performing Arts Center, bold architecture coupled with patterned details, inside and out, expresses flowing movement of space, complementing the music performed within. The lighting serves to enhance this and express a few notes of its own. From textured concrete to highly reflective interior surfaces, there were challenges and opportunities. For the Mead Witter Concert, Collins Recital Hall and Rehearsal Hall, and lobby keeping things simple (though they may not appear to be), and working with local fabricators allowed multiple custom fixtures to remain within the state budget. All light sources within the concert hall are warm dim to enhance the rich copper tones.
